MATT JACKSON has been recalled from his loan spell at Blackpool, after Jay DeMerit was ruled out for a month with a calf problem.

DeMerit was carried off after just nine minutes of Saturday's clash West Brom with a calf injury and Watford conceded three unanswered goals in the absence of the American defender.

Adrian Mariappa came off the bench to partner Dan Shittu but Aidy Boothroyd may feel the experience and communication skills of Jackson, against one of his former clubs, could come in handy at Carrow Road.

Jackson, signed in the summer from Wigan, is yet to feature in a Championship game for the Hornets but has played the last three games for Blackpool.

"We half expected the call when we heard Watford had sustained a couple of injuries," said Blackpool boss Simon Grayson.

"I would like to thank Aidy for allowing Matt to come to us in the first place, Matt has done extremely well for us and has been a popular figure in the dressing room."
