Eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted a popular Watford location on TV after it featured in the latest episode of EastEnders.

TV stars were in Cassiobury Park as it was used to film part of the soap’s London Marathon episode, which aired last night, April 22.

A BBC film crew, the race’s starting point banner and advertising for its real sponsors, Tata Consultancy Services, were pictured in the park as Watford Borough Council shared behind-the-scenes photos.

The episode saw characters Jay Brown and Honey Mitchell take part in the 26.2-mile race, before EastEnders later revealed the actors had actually completed the real marathon in character to film the storylines.

As well as running for charity, the footage of the actual race was edited with other scenes filmed separately, including in Cassiobury Park, to complete the episode.

It comes after the Hertfordshire Film Office launched an online portal last month for productions looking to film in the county, with 12 locations billed as potential sets around Watford.

As well as Cress Lands, in Cassiobury Park, the Watford Market, Cheslyn House and Gardens, and the Vicarage Road Cemetery could feature on the screen in the future.
